Commercial airlines can fly you almost anywhere nowadays, almost. Some locations are harder to fly to and don’t allow landings by commercial airlines. Reaching such exclusive destinations by private jet is certainly a unique experience.

We have prepared a short series of three articles that will spark your curiosity. Today we focus on the Caribbean known for their pristine white beaches, turquoise seas, marine life, fresh seafood, alluring winter sun, hospitality, and lively festivals. The Caribbean has attracted visitors from around the world and let’s be honest – who doesn’t have this region on their “go to” list?

Canouan, Grenadines

Canouan Island is located in the south-eastern part of the Caribbean, in the heart of the Grenadines.

Famous are the local spas located in 11 houses on one of the local green slopes, where you can enjoy massages, jacuzzies, meditations or aromatherapy. Golf players will find a Jim Fazio designed 18-hole course located on dramatic sloping hills skirting the oceans edge (Golf – Canouan Estate) and whether you prefer villas or luxurious hotel resorts, there is a wide selection of both.

The surroundings of the island are a complete paradise for snorkelling and diving due to one of the largest coral reefs with rich underwater life. If you decide to climb Mount Royal, you will be rewarded with mesmerizing panoramic views from its summit.

The lack of commercial flights to Canouan makes this place even more charming. The island has its own private airport handling nonstop private flights of all kinds.

Anguilla, Caribbean

Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Eastern Caribbean with some of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in the Caribbean region.

The place offers an abundance of natural beauty including limestone caves. There is something for everyone. You can explore Anguilla’s rich underwater world without getting wet on glass-bottom boat tours and if you don’t mind getting wet, then clear and warm waters provide superb conditions for scuba diving or snorkelling near islands such as little Prickly Pear Cays or Sandy Islands. It’s capital, The Valley, boasts upscale restaurants and art lovers will satisfy their desires by visiting local art galleries.

There are regular flights to the nearby island of St. Martin from both North America and Europe. But if you want to get a little further, you have no choice but to jump on a boat or a small plane.

Norman’s Cay, The Bahamas

Norman’s Cay is a small Bahamian island in the Exumas, east of Nassau. It is pure paradise with a quaint coral atoll, clear turquoise waters and is one of the most, if not the most, breath-taking islands in the Bahamas.

Norman’s Cay does not have many permanent residents and for many people serves as a seasonal home. As of 2018 the Norman’s Cay Airport has no commercial airline service.

The island is known for its luxurious and very intimate resort called The Norman’s Cay Beach Club offering oceanfront cottages with magnificent views. You are more than welcome to jump in the ocean and find your own conch or catch your own fish. The local restaurant will be pleased to prepare the catch for your lunch or dinner.

St. Barts, Caribbean

Saint Barthelemy is a French-speaking island also known as St. Barths or St. Barts. Christopher Columbus discovered this island in 1493, on his second expedition. The island is named after his brother Bartholomew. First settled by the French, then briefly sold to Sweden, later being bought back by the French. The Swedish influence is quite noticeable in the local architecture.

Its sandy beaches, turquoise sea and refreshing coastal breeze make this island full of elegance and French charm, a paradise for discerning travellers. Small design hotels, gourmet restaurants, and expensive boutiques are a real temptation especially in wintertime.

Calivigny Island

Calivigny Island, the ultimate private island destination is located off the south coast of Grenada in the Caribbean. It has an area of 80 hectares and only two beaches. The island, which belongs to the French billionaire Georges Cohen, has five luxury residences for up to 40 people.

Only the richest can afford the local peace and privacy along with unparalleled services. One night for one person costs around 100,000 EUR. The Beach House Residence features designer furniture, marble bathrooms and terraces. The food is provided by French chefs.

The nearest airport is Maurice Bishop International Airport in St George’s, Grenada which can receive private carriers of any size.
