In this third part of our travel trilogy, we will introduce you to yet more interesting corners of the world, which are much easier to visit by private aircraft. This time we are moving to Europe and Asia.

St. Moritz, Switzerland

St. Moritz is one of the most famous luxury ski resorts in the world. This village can be found in the canton of Graubünden at an altitude of 1843 m on the shores of Lake Moritz and is surrounded by ski slopes. It has hosted two Winter Olympic games and four World Alpine Skiing Championships.

If you are a ski or snowboard lover, this place will be like a winter paradise for you. Near the village there are several ski resorts of the highest quality (a total of 350 km of slopes), which are interconnected by ski buses and trains. The most known are Corviglia, Corvatsch or Diavolezza.

Not only lovers of downhill skiing, but also cross-country skiers will enjoy themselves. There are 160 km of cross-country well-groomed ski trails throughout the area, and the famous Engadine Marathon is held here every March.

In the summer months, St. Moritz and its surroundings are an ideal place for hiking and climbing.

Many travellers will agree that getting to this destination without a private jet can be a real pain. Its closest airport Samedan is only 15 minutes away but due to its short runway it cannot accommodate commercial flights but can be easily reached by private planes. The alternatives are a three-hour drive or a thirty-five-minute helicopter ride from Zurich, so which sounds better?

Gstaad, Switzerland

Hiking, climbing, rafting, horseback riding and nearly year-round skiing. Everyone will find something for themselves in this upscale resort town in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps. The rising mountains and prestigious international boarding schools made this an attractive holiday destination for royal families and celebrities.

However, if you head to Gstaad from Geneva or Zurich, be prepared to travel with up to three trains or a journey of several hours by car, which can be even more annoying if mountain roads become congested.

Gstaad Saanen Airport can easily handle even large aircraft. So, forget about the car and hop on a private plane.

Deauville, France

Deauville is a seaside resort on the Côte Fleurie of France’s Normandy region. An ideal place to explore the beaches of Normandy and the rich and turbulent history of World War II. Thanks to the local Anglo-Norman architecture, you will feel like you are walking among gingerbread houses, and you can also enjoy fresh seafood at the local stalls or visit some chic boutiques.

This town is also known for its grand casino, golf courses, horse races and American Film Festival.

Deauville is a favourite escape for many Parisians to hide from the heat-stricken capital. The Paris motorway can be quite a nightmare for its terrible traffic jams. A private flight to Deauville-Normandie Airport will save you two and a half hours by train or by car.

Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands is an archipelago consisting of 18 major islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean on the southwestern edge of the Norwegian Sea and is certainly best reached by private jet.

The Faroe Islands are worth exploring mainly due to their beautiful nature and aesthetics. You will find a few hundred meters high cliffs, incredible views of the fjords, dramatic landscapes and over 800 miles of breath-taking coastlines. The villages will take you back in history, as the original wooden houses with grass roofs have been preserved.

If you like helicopter rides, take one and go to the island of Mykines, where you can watch the typical Faroese bird, Puffins. You can take a helicopter from either Tórshavn or Vagar airport.

If you ever wondered where in the world is the best place to see the mesmerizing dance of the Northern Lights, then look no further.

And now a complete change of scenery…

Paro, Bhutan

Paro is a small valley town in western Bhutan located at an altitude of about two thousand two hundred meters and is surrounded by the Himalayan mountains.

The place is known for the many sacred sites in the area and for having the country’s only international airport which is said to be one of the most challenging to land at.

Paro offers more of a raw authentic experience rather than luxury and will welcome you with a charming scenery with willows leaning over the river and fresh green rice fields. Along the slopes you will find scattered many houses in the classic Bhutanese style, or snow-white dzongs – old local fortresses. The town centre itself was not built until 1985, which gives Para a special old-new touch.

You should not miss one of the most beautiful and most famous monasteries in the world – a Tiger’s nest hanging high on a cliff. Visit a traditional farm, where you will see the lives of ordinary people, how houses are built, how families live together and how traditions are observed to this day. Taste typical national dishes, try traditional Bhutanese clothes, or play traditional Bhutanese sports in the form of archery and darts. If you hit the target, the reward will be joyful dancing and singing of local Bhutanese. Go biking, horse riding, visit weekend markets or enjoy a traditional massage and herbal bath.

And if you still fancy a touch of luxury, then stay and dine at the beautiful Haven Resort or Le Meridien Paro, Riverfront in Paro or have traditional gho or kiru clothing tailored to your needs!

Most tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior to travel to Bhutan which can take up to 10 days. However, when flying private, securing a permit will be taken care of on your behalf.
